Our remarkable record of innovation started with the first artificial urinary sphincter for incontinence. That groundbreaking therapy in 1972 set the standard for many more, including the first inflatable penile prostheses for erectile restoration. In its early days, AMS also built the foundation for its strong physician relationships by developing surgical seminars and practice management programs.
Acquisition by Pfizer Inc. and later E.M. Warburg, Pincus & Co., LLC, brought new opportunities for growth that ultimately resulted in AMS going public in 2000. AMS now trades on NASDAQ under the symbol AMMD.
Today, AMS is a world-class leader in advanced medical technologies employing more than 1,200 people in 9 countries.
