Overview

UroLume is the AMS solution for Detrusor External Sphincter Dyssynergia (DESD). The UroLume urethral stent from AMS offers relief to men who suffer from urinary obstruction due to DESD.

DESD is a serious condition most frequently seen in patients with spinal cord injury and multiple sclerosis. It is caused by lesions between the brain stem and the lower part (sacral region) of the spinal cord. When DESD occurs, the bladder and external sphincter do not function in a coordinated manner to allow urination. This can cause a dangerous buildup of bladder pressure.
