Is it Right for You?
The AMS 800 is a treatment option men with moderate to severe stress urinary incontinence due to intrinsic sphincter deficiency (ISD) following prostate surgery. Some manual dexterity and strength are required to operate the pump, which controls the device.

The procedure is not for people with:
  • Physical or mental conditions that make them poor candidates for surgical procedures and/or anesthesia
  • An irreversible blocked lower urinary tract
  • Irresolvable detrusor hyperreflexia or bladder instability
  • Poor manual dexterity

The best way to determine if the AMS 800 Urinary Control System is right for you is to talk to your doctor.

Patient Profile
Gary's incontinence problem began with prostate surgery at age 60. He used absorbent pads for four years. At the height of his incontinence, he was going through as many as 15 pads a day. As time went on, Gary was reluctant to leave his house for long periods.

Gary wanted his social life back, so he consulted with his physician for another solution. His urologist suggested an AMS 800 Urinary Control System. The AMS 800 appealed to Gary because it could give him control and would be implanted totally inside his body.

Since the surgery, Gary has reclaimed his life. He has been able to resume walking and long-distance travel. He is happy to once again be maintaining continence for a reasonable amount of time.

This scenario is based upon a composite of typical patient and physician experiences, and is not reflective of any one individual's medical situation. Individual situations and results may vary.
